I’ve been a CPA for over twenty-five years and to this day, no field fascinates me more than tax and financial planning.  After twenty-five years of service, I retired from the Alabama Department of Revenue to start my own practice.  My first priority is to serve my clients. I thoroughly enjoy helping clients grow their wealth and strengthen their financial future through sound tax and financial planning.

I actually enjoy being confronted with complex tax matters.  I obsessively research all aspects of the issue until I have mastered it.  Call me an accounting nerd, but reading tax books actually energizes me.  Remaining one of the most competent professionals in my field is very important to me. I am 100% confident in my ability to expertly and energetically serve my clients.

Jesus famously said “Render unto Caesar what is Caesar’s and unto God what is God’s.”  While I fully believe in timely filing and paying my taxes – my “fair share” – I also fully believe in arranging my affairs in such a way as to minimize my taxes.  Tax planning goes beyond availing ourselves of every deduction available – it is also about arranging our personal and professional life in such a manner as to take advantage of all the tax code has to offer each individual, small business owner, etc.

Now a confession:  Business Development scares me.  Can my fellow entrepreneurs sympathize with me?  Web design is foreign to me and social media is overwhelming, right?  Thankfully, my daughters (Tiffany & Courtney) partnered with me.

While pregnant with Tiffany, I was studying for the CPA (Certified Public Accountant) exam.  Later, our “story book time” consisted of me reading aloud my financial planning textbooks – I was preparing for my CFP (Certified Financial Planner) exam.  Needless to say, I wasn’t surprised when Tiffany chose to major in accounting!  While her passion goes beyond accounting — business development and marketing – she still remains an accountant at heart.  My youngest daughter, Courtney, rebelled against all things “math” and became a communications strategist.  She offers Tiffany and I her unique perspective whenever she isn’t busy with her full-time gig at NASA.

This blog is our way to further serve you.  Hopefully you find it helpful, funny, and original!
